MONTREAL -- The Montreal Impact are hoping to ride a hot streak all the way to a second Amway Canadian Championship. The Impact will host the Vancouver Whitecaps in Wednesday nights first leg of the two-game, total-goals final at Saputo Stadium. Montreal, which won the first ACC title in 2008, bounced back from a 2-0 loss in Toronto on April 24 with a shocking 6-0 win at home one week later for a spot in this years final. Impact goalie Evan Bush, who backs up Troy Perkins in Montreals Major League Soccer games, will once again get the start against Vancouver after he helped unseat the four-time defending Voyageur Cup champion Reds. "He works hard every day," Impact coach Marco Schallibaum said. "Its not a present. He merits these games in the Canadian cup." Montreal fans were upset with the Impacts outing in their first game of this years ACC competition at BMO Field. "We went back after and we looked at it and said it was just a bad performance," Bush said after practice Tuesday. "You know, a lot of the same guys played the next game against Toronto. It just so happened we didnt play very well in Toronto. "We came back and we were focused. Youre not always going to win 6-0 but throughout the course of the season weve put together some good games. I dont know if that game necessarily was a statement game but it was an emotional game for everybody at the stadium and within the team it gives us a lot of confidence going into this next leg here." The Impact are coming off a spectacular 3-2 win over Real Salt Lake on Saturday. Italian defender Matteo Ferrari scored his first MLS goal off a corner kick in injury time after he was charged with an own-goal that gave Salt Lake an early lead. That win left Montreal tied with Kansas City and Houston for second in the Eastern Conference with 20 points, one point behind New York. The Impact are 4-0-1 at home with a fifth win coming in the second leg of the ACC against Toronto on May 1. "You see the importance of a home game," Bush said. "Last time against Toronto they did what they needed to do in a home game. They put a lot of pressure on us. We responded with the way we did but we dont want to dig ourselves a hole and have to go to Vancouver and make up a goal differential so were looking to get off on a good foot here and make a good result tomorrow." Montreal will be playing its seventh game in 22 days, including its third in ACC competition. "Its nice to be at home knowing that we can prepare and were here, having played a lot of games, we dont have to travel all the way to the West Coast," said Impact midfielder Patrice Bernier, a native of Brossard, Que. "That helps that we have just played at home and were already settled in here." Bernier acknowledged that hosting the opening leg puts pressure on Montreal to come out strong. "Were going to play for a good result," Bernier said. "Hopefully we have no goals against and we have a few goals in the bank but we have to be smart. We know that its a two-leg series so we dont want to go there giving something that gives them a little bit more boost knowing that they have an away goal or something like that. Were going to try to get the best result possible that puts us a little bit one step in the door in the second leg." The Whitecaps, runners-up to Toronto in each of the last four ACC tournaments, also find themselves coming into the final on a high note as they get ready to face a new opponent for the Canadian title. Vancouver beat Los Angeles 3-1 on Saturday for its first-ever win over the Galaxy. The Whitecaps, who won both legs of its ACC semi-final against FC Edmonton, are currently seventh in the MLS Western Conference with a 3-4-3 mark. They will host the second leg of the ACC final at B.C. Place on May 29. Midfielder Russell Teibert of Niagara Falls, Ont., scored his first two MLS goals in the victory over Los Angeles. He said the Whitecaps have to use that momentum to help them excel against Montreal, and that given Vancouvers struggles in Canadian championship play the past two years all of the Whitecaps will be "pumped up and ready to play" the Impact. "It is a very big game, Canadian championship, and we do want to be the best team in Canada," Teibert said. "So we need to take (the win over L.A.) forward and build off it. "Everybody on our team wants to dedicate (a Canadian title) to our club and our fans. We do owe it to them." Joe Kelly Jersey . Madrid is third in the Spanish league, six points behind leader Barcelona, going into Saturdays game against Valladolid. http://www.theredsoxteamshop.com/Red-Sox-David-Price-Kids-Jersey/ . Ronaldo produced a spectacular individual performance on Tuesday, scoring all three goals and guiding Portugal into the next years World Cup in Brazil with a 3-2 victory in Sweden. The Real Madrid forward has scored 66 goals in 2013, but the last three may be the boost he needs to upstage Messi after FIFA unexpectedly extended the voting period for the Ballon dOr to Nov. Brock Holt Jersey . Manuel was offered a position the day he was fired. He accepted earlier this week and the team made the announcement Friday. Tony Conigliaro Jersey . Canada is now down to its 22-player limit, although but players wont be registered until Christmas Day. Changes could still be made as a result of a suspension or injury. VILLANOVA, Pa. -- Josh Hart shined again as a player of the year candidate in front of a slew of NBA stars that had to know he will join them next season.Josh Hart everyone! teammate Kris Jenkins yelled as the Wildcats entered the media center.Hart raised his arms in triumph. The guy who made the shot right behind me, Hart said.Jenkins national title game-winner earned Villanova a trip to the White House. Once a player meets the president, Joel Embiid, Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan watching courtside fail to awe as much as some All-Stars.If President Obamas here, I wouldnt mind too much, Hart said.Hart shook off a slow start to score 26 points and lead No. 1 Villanova to its 17th straight win, 78-57 over Temple on Tuesday night.Unlike Obama, the Wildcats could be back in the White House next season.Already the top team in the country, the Wildcats (11-0) again staked their claim as the best in Philadelphia. The Wildcats romped to their 18th straight Big 5 victory, and finished 4-0 this season against the Owls, Saint Josephs, Penn and La Salle. The Wildcats fattened their season record against Philly teams and havent lost any game since they fell to Seton Hall in the Big East championship game.National championship game star Daniel Ochefu, now with the Washington Wizards, rallied the crowd before tipoff and Lowry was honored with a framed Team USA jersey in his return to campus. The crowd loved cheering Villanovas former stars.Theyre simply infatuated with Hart.Hart bypassed a shot at the NBA and returned for his senior season to improve his draft stock and help the Wildcats become the first repeat champions since Florida in 2006-07.He missed his first five shots after missing four total shots in a 37-point effort last week against Notre Dame. He hit a runner at the first-half buzzer to spark a sensational second half: Hart made consecutive 3s that made it 49-31 and blew the game open.Hart was about as well-rounded offensively as any AP College Basketball Player of the Year candidate this season. He attacked the rim and converted three-point plays and absolutely dominated when needed against a Temple program with a recent history of knocking off nationally ranked Wildcat teams. He scored a whopping 22 points over a 9-minute stretch that sent the crowd into a frenzy. The beauty is, he didnt know that, I didnt know that, coacch Jay Wright said of that scoring spurt.dddddddddddd.Yeah, but the Owls sure did.The Owls (7-4) played little like a team that knocked off two straight Top 25 teams to win the NIT Season Tip-Off and were the latest team knocked silly by the Wildcats. They had 12 turnovers on 31 possessions in the first half and had six turnovers and were held without a point during one 10-possession stretch.Temple coach Fran Dunphy was a co-captain at La Salle and helped the Explorers to a 23-1 record in 1969 under coach Tom Gola. He coached the Owls and Penn to multiple NCAA Tournaments. He saw Jameer Nelson and Delonte West lead Saint Josephs to a near-perfect season.Dunphy has never seen a city program rolling like the Wildcats. Its hard to argue that theyre not the best grouping of guys that have had the best four-year career, he said. Besides their name, they have national champion. Thats pretty impressive.BIG PICTURETemple: The Owls had already defeated two Top 25 teams this season and received votes in the poll. But Temple stumbled at home against George Washington and the loss to the Wildcats has stalled their momentum. The Owls had their lowest point total in the first half this season. Shizz Alston Jr. led the Owls with 12 points and Daniel Dingle had 11.They did a great job defensively but I felt like we had a great opportunity to make shots we didnt make, Dingle said.Villanova: The Wildcats won their 18th straight Big 5 game. They are 4-0 each of the last four seasons in the Big 5. Hart, Jenkins and Darryl Reynolds are the first senior class in the 60-year history of the Big 5 to go unbeaten.Weve been part of some great teams with some great players, Jenkins said.SHARE THE LOVESure, Hart was the focus again for Villanova. But Jalen Brunson scored 13 points and Jenkins and Eric Paschall each scored 12. Brunson added six assists as he has quietly emerged as the stout point guard the Wildcats envisioned.POLL IMPLICATIONVillanova will remain No. 1 in the AP Top 25.UP NEXTTemple hosts NJIT on Saturday. The top-ranked Wildcats play their final nonconference game before Big East play on Dec. 21 against American.---More AP college basketball: www.collegebasketball.ap.org and https://twitter.com/AP-Top25.
